"What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning."

The Guardian, London

Looking for a course locally?

The Alpha Course is run worldwide primarily for those who aren't churchgoers but who want to investigate the claims of Christianity, to understand other people's beliefs or simply to discuss some the big questions in life. We run it regularly at New River Church and would be delighted to welcome you as a guest if you are looking for a course locally.

What is the point of life?

What happens when we die?

Is forgiveness possible?

What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?

Each evening is begins with dinner together at 7.30pm, which gives you an opportunity to get to know the other people attending.

The course consists of a series of talks over ten weeks looking at topics such as "Who is Jesus?" and "Why and how do I pray?" and after each talk we divide into small groups for a time of discussion. There is a day or a weekend away in the middle of the course.

The course is relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. No question is too simple or too hostile

There is no charge for the course, although you may be asked to make a contribution towards food. The Alpha Course is sponsored by all the main Christian denominations.
