Birthday Speech!
This month we are celebrating New River Church's second birthday - hip, hip, hoorah!
As with any two-year old, it is amazing to remember everything that has been packed into this short life, and to consider for a moment the potential for the future.
God spoke in the Old Testament to Zerubbabel (not such a popular name these days!) and his colleagues as they undertook the arduous task of rebuilding the temple: 'Does anyone dare despise this day of small beginnings? They'll change their tune when they see Zerubbabel setting the last stone in place!"'*
The job of rebuilding can sometimes appear demanding, and the progress slow. But there's an assurance for us from the example of Zerubbabel that the work God starts, He will complete. And whilst we work, applying ourselves to the tasks at hand, we let God excite us about the church He is building! Hip, hip, hoorah!!!
Blessings, Robin and Cecilia
Prayer
Maybe you'd like to join with us at this time in praying for four specifics:
1. Students - NRC is working with other local churches this term to start fusion cell groups in London Met University. Pray for God to bless this university and for new students seeking to connect with local church to find a home.
2. Estates - pray for the increasing opportunities to express Jesus' love to people on the Dover Court, Highbury and Marquess Estates.
3. Youth - God is establishing a group of teenagers at NRC, pray for them to become a community and to be filled with His Spirit.
4. Alpha - two of our cells are hosting an Alpha course this term - pray for God to visit, love and call new disciples through this course.
