Worship

Worship is not just about guitars, keyboards, singing, choirs, organ music, overhead projectors, dancing, clapping or even playing the tambourine! It's about putting Jesus at the centre of our thoughts and deeds, dedicating our lives to him, giving Him thanks and praise personally and publicly, throughout the day and throughout the week.
At New River, when we meet on Sundays or in our cell groups, we set time aside when we can worship God and put him first above our other concerns, no matter how pressing they are.

In John 4, Jesus talked about true worshippers. He said "God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth". We desire to be true worshippers in a church built around the presence of God. We acknowledge that we need the Holy Spirit so, when we come together to worship, we ask him to come and help us to know God better and to help us to worship him freely. Our purpose is to bring pleasure to God. At the same time, he counsels us, refreshes us, and often changes us as a church and as individuals.
