Past
The very first humans were placed in a beautiful garden and enjoyed an intimate relationship with God walking with Christ in the cool of the day and enjoying the fruits of the tree of life as they heard the sound of a magnificent river flowing out of Eden and dividing into a delta of four rivers which irrigated the surrounding region.
Although we do not have a Tigris or a Euphrates nearby, we do have an example of a waterway in the form of the New River that was designed to bring fresh spring water from Hertfordshire into London. The construction of this canal responded to the pollution of much of London’s existing water supply by industry. Nowadays many local roads and businesses sport the name ‘New River’ and Islington Green is today home to a statue commemorating Myddleton’s achievement. |
