What We Teach:
We want to be radical followers of Jesus Christ and we want to love Him and obey His Word (Jh. 14:15). We therefore know that we need to let the message of the Bible speak to us today. To help us do this in a balanced way there are five biblical themes we seem to come back to time and again:
1. Trinity (God as Father, Spirit and Son) All life flows from God and we want to be part of the eternal song and dance within the Trinity. We want to be in relationship with the triune God and we therefore study God’s character and work as revealed in the dynamic interplay of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19).
2. Kingdom of God Jesus preached the Kingdom of God in power with signs and miracles. He saw himself as the Son of Man to whom the Kingdom was given alongside power and glory (Dan. 7:13-14). He taught us to pray that the Kingdom of Heaven might be established on earth (Mat. 6:10). He came to destroy the works of the evil one (1 Jh 3:8).
3. Bible The Bible is God’s truth (2 Tim. 3:16) and love letter to humanity. We want to study the Book and meditate on it continually (Psalm 119:97). God’s word brings life and we want it to permeate our thinking, prayers and actions so that we might be transformed by the renewal of our mind (Rom. 12:2).
4. Humanity Humans are made in God’s image (Gen. 1:27) even if this image has been corrupted by sin (Rom. 3:23). God is the designer. We are his creatures and so we want to explore what it means to live life to the full (Jh. 10:10) in twenty-first century London. God is love (1 Jh. 4:8) and He loves people (Jh 3:16). 5. Time God is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End (Rev. 22:13). Whilst we eagerly await Christ’s Second Coming (Rev. 22:20), we want to learn from church history and embrace a future with Him.
