Soul Care 1

This series works  from the belief that the church is called to be ministers, one to another.  The Biblical model for ministry occurs within community.  We are therefore looking to equip one another to receive and  undertake ministry within this setting.

Word
1John 1:3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
1John 1:4 We write this to make our joy complete.
1John 1:5 ¶ This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
1John 1:6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.
1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Questions:
1. What  struck us from this  piece of scripture/the talk on Sunday?
2. Is there anything we don't understand from  these verses?
3. How was Jesus so whole and sure of his identity?
4.  What might we learn from 1 John 1 regarding care for our souls?

How are people doing with the whole accountability triplet idea?
How do you feel about receiving and giving ministry in this context?

[in small groups]
Roberto mentioned a few practical considerations on Sunday related to soul care. Which of them do you most need to grow in and why:
  • boundaries
  • self-image
  • take responsibility for our own problems
  • avoid negative thinking
  • don't hold grudges
Pray for one another.

Witness
How many non-Christian friends do you have where those people feel confident enough to share honestly with you where they're at? Pray for one another for God's help to build these type of relationships.
